Lifelong learning

I have worked on my communication through the Freinet pedagogy. I have learned to listen better and respond to other opinions. In my management role, I sometimes have to have difficult conversations. Thanks to my changed attitude, I am able to look at difficulties systemically and offer solutions that take both sides into account. But I am still learning – that is also Freinet for me.

Our topics at a glance

A lifetime of learning - and learning with joy.

In Freinet pedagogy, we have a very positive attitude towards learning. What experiences have you had in our society with the learning culture you are familiar with?

Everyone has experienced different teaching and learning methods in their lives. And everyone has had their own learning experiences as a small child. Do you remember how often you fell down and got up again when learning to walk? How your own child or sibling learned to ride a bike or play catch?

These learning successes are the result of our intrinsic desire to learn. We all have the power within us to learn everything we want to grasp and understand. In our development, even in early childhood, society and our environment actively participate in our learning process.

Discover the will to learn

The dilemma of extrinsic learning motivation.

Have you also experienced that learning ideas based on curricula determine how and when your own learning process takes place? Every child wants to please their parents, teachers and friends. As we grow up, each of us develops an ambition to be recognized.

Are you also characterized by grades, criticism and external praise from evaluators? This learning culture is changing the intrinsic motivation to an extrinsically driven motivation to learn. As a result, it is becoming increasingly unclear what learners learn out of their own interest and what out of social expectation. Individual strengths are waiting to be rediscovered and uncovered.

Using a variety of methods

Freinet pedagogy and its methods are contemporary and forward-looking.

Do you know the feeling that the pressure to perform is clearly noticeable in you and your learning group due to external expectations? Would you like to experience how the challenges for you as a learning guide and for your protégés become smaller and easier? With the Freinet pedagogical approach and the joy of lifelong learning, you can develop creative solutions as a learning guide. Trust in the power of the group and utilize its potential.

Try to shed light on your own learning biography and find out in which moments you succeeded in learning with friends and at which points you forgot to learn yourself.

Become a learner again and embark on an exciting learning journey together with your group. Use the Freinet pedagogical method box – so you have all the necessary tools with you at all times.

Take advantage of our wide range of offers and events to further fill your method box. You’ll be surprised how much fun you’ll have.

Daring to change roles

Experience the power of the group and utilize all its potential.

By organizing themselves into small groups, learners become increasingly independent. The result is learning together and with each other at eye level. The associated change in learning perspectives allows us to develop lifelong cooperative skills. Self-organization gives learners a lot of freedom for their individual development. In connection with the group, they benefit from each other.

Do you want to draw strength when you see how learners organize themselves in small groups? As a teacher, you can be filled with joyful pride because the learners show you all facets of their personality through more freedom and clear agreements.

Freinet’s texts such as “Eagles don’t climb stairs” or “The horse that is not thirsty” helped me to recognize and accept the individual differences of the children with a certain composure and to assess their receptiveness.
