Your journey to Freinet pedagogy.

This is where your journey to Freinet pedagogy begins. It extends over two years with further training in several blocks. This experience is even rewarded with a recognized certificate at the end. That’s why our training course is called: ” Eagles don’t climb stairs“.

But before you get any more information here, a very brief review of Célestin Freinetthe founder of Freinet’s pedagogy: Freinet observed his protégés very closely. He adapted his teaching methods to their behavior and needs. In doing so, he realized that not only did learning success improve, but teaching became much more enjoyable.

He no longer needed a restrictive corset and the stairs to the top. His students took off with him into a pedagogy of flying like eagles.

In dieser Weiterbildung kannst du die Freinet-Pädagogik richtig gut kennen lernen. Du lernst einzelne Methods kennen und gewinnst sehr schnell einen fundierten Überblick über Praxis und Theorie der Freinet-Pädagogik. So erweiterst du gleichzeitig deinen Blick auf das Ganze. Auf diesem Weg erprobst du praktisch die wesentlichen Elemente der Freinet-Pädagogik. So werden die Inhalte in dir durch Handeln und Haltung lebendig.

The attitude ist das zentrale Element der Weiterbildung. Du arbeitest an deiner Haltung als Mensch und Pädagog:in. In der Geborgenheit der Gruppe macht ihr euch gemeinsam auf den Weg zur Freinet-pädagogischen Praxis. Ihr gebt euch gegenseitig wertvolle Tipps, Halt und Unterstützung.

The common doing and experiencing bestärken dich darin, dass du richtig bist im Hier und Jetzt. Nach der Freinet-Weiterbildung bist du zertifizierte „Fachkraft für Freinet-Pädagogik“. Du erwirbst einen wertvollen Diamanten für deinen Lebenslauf.

Our concept

Find out more about the structure of the training course on the theory and practice of Freinet pedagogy.

During the two years of training, you will experience six modules that build on each other. They are held either from Wednesday to Sunday or from Friday to Tuesday at different conference venues. Each module has a different focus. However, they always refer back to the content of the other modules. You organize the seventh module yourself. You can find suitable work shadowing opportunities and interesting facilities via the following links.

Module 0: Supplementary and introductory module to the 9th and 10th cycle of further training
We are offering this module entitled "Freinet sustainable (Education for Sustainable Development)" as an in-depth or introductory module: 02.10. - 05.10.2025, Freie Gesamtschule Facettenreich in Issum (NRW). It is open to participants of the 9th and 10th cycle as well as all other interested people. We will plant trees and bushes together, which will find their place in the "species kingdom" of the comprehensive school. Various aspects of sustainability will be taken into account and learning opportunities for outdoor math will be created that can be transferred to any institution.
At the same time, the "Train the Trainer" training course will take place for the first time in the Facettenreich from October 3 to October 5, 2025. All certified Freinet educators will have the opportunity to be trained as Freinet pedagogy trainers. This training course will take place once a year in future.

Direct translation in real time

Participation in Freinet training is now also possible without knowledge of German. An AI-supported headset ensures that all group discussions are translated directly into the respective language of the participants. This removes the language barrier and allows the focus to be placed entirely on the learning process. Active participation is thus facilitated, while at the same time all content remains comprehensible in the familiar language.
